My neighbor Betty

by noreply@blogger.com (Mary)
6 Nov 2008 at 2:36 pm
My hands are tingling again. I have been wanting to lay hands on my neighbor Betty for a long time now, but didn't know how to open up the subject...we rarely talk...only to say hello when we happen to be outside at the same time. You know what I mean? Anyway, since I practiced healing touch in the spring I have felt guilty about not trying to do something for her! She has been fighting ovarian ... read more

IKE is still coming

by noreply@blogger.com (Mary)
11 Sep 2008 at 9:48 am
The weather watch in my hometown of Lake Charles, Louisiana, is alarmed...as I said before, they once got hit unexpectedly by hurricane Rita when it was supposed to go to Texas. So now they are preparing even though they may be spared. From the size of the monster, maybe I should go through getting ice made, water gathered, food, etc. One of the things I am worrried about is all the storm debris ... read more

Life has been scary lately. Since I live in Lafayette, Louisiana, summertime often comes with giant storms that brew in the gulf of Mexico. Gustav came and went without too much more than dreadful anticipation and a day without power. For us that is...neighbors to the east and south of us are still struggling after a week. Now we are on alert for IKE...last night on the weather channel they said ... read more

Two posts in one day! but this one is necessary...I made the weekly call to check on how she is doing and there is wonderful news. Not only can she now walk the entire circle at Drew Park (a lovely wooded area near the lake), but she has been shopping to buy something nifty to wear for the family get-together she is going to today! a beautiful new shirt and capris pants! what a sight she will be ... read more

Happy July 4th! love those fireworks!

by noreply@blogger.com (Mary)
4 Jul 2008 at 7:36 am
We made it through Vic's death day (the first year anniversary). He comes to me often, usually with his sorry hat in hand though I never was with him when he wore a hat. That came later. Odd that I didn't think about that until now...that his hat-wearing days started after he became a different man. Anyway, he wants me to feel sorry for him. I do somehow. But I always tell him that he needs to ... read more

Dear Granddaughter, Angel Cherie

21 Jun 2008 at 8:40 am
I am your granny. Mother to your mother. This morning I woke up with this letter on my lips. Are you old enough to hear me? perhaps this will stay in cyberspace until you are... I love you. Your mother loves you and your great-grandmother needed your essence to breathe. Each day I pray that your life is good and that you are trouble-free. Silly that all of us have the black cloud of the loss ... read more

I know what I know - sort of

by noreply@blogger.com (Mary)
27 May 2008 at 9:01 am
I tried to help my friend long distance...during our conversation my hand grasped something and my thumb rubbed as if I had a worry stone - I told her that her nephews should have one to carry with them when they went to the graveyard to buy their father. (long story short). Her interpretation is that what I was telling her is they needed rocks! that part of the Jewish burial includes leaving ... read more

Grandma was a traiteur

by noreply@blogger.com (Mary)
12 May 2008 at 1:14 pm
My cousin Betty was quick to correct me when I told her that Grandma was a healer! she said "no! she treated, she was not a healer." Oops...I guess the kid in me thought that since so many came to her for relief from their hurts (earache, burns, etc.) that perhaps she made them better? What do I know? except that I feel that she had miracles in her fingertips. I witnessed it and now I feel the ... read more

God has a sense of humor

11 May 2008 at 10:08 am
Oh yeah! I laugh all the time...well, no, that's not true. My life has been very subdued and organized to a point of boredom. I told you I am looking into this thing called charismatic renewal. My cousin Betty once told me her life changed when she was baptised in the Holy Spirit..."not like just going to regular mass," she said. "But through the seminar!" So I signed up a year later. So far ... read more

charismatic renewal and healing

3 May 2008 at 8:06 am
I must know more about this gift of healing...did I ever tell you that my grandmother Victorine was a healer? night and day people came to her for her touch. her prayer. she never talked about it to me. I was a child and simply accepted the visitors and their disruption as natural. now at my age it has jumped forward and I want to know more. I had the recent experience of wanting to heal when ... read more

All in all yesterday went well. Aleve you are my best friend! I brought home a vanload. Real treasures to be sure...chairs that I sat on in my grandmother's house when I was a child, a strange old bucket, the "dancing table" my grandfather built (I think it's on it's last legs...). Love it all! My husband didn't. Talk about balking and pouting all day. I simply tuned him out. He is a good man ... read more

What will I bring home?

by noreply@blogger.com (Mary)
16 Feb 2008 at 5:27 am
Today is the day I have put off for many years...the family will meet to clear out Momma's house. I came awake so early trying to figure out what would be salvaged and what will be left - and if I leave anything will I miss it later? If I could put it all together again the way it was. That can't happen I know...but that's the feeling I have right now. Clocks, lamps, photos, old stuff, stuff ... read more

I know this child doesn't look anything like you when you were one...with all your olive skin and black glossy hair. But I want to think of you as a child. When all your future was still bright and shiny! What a hard life you had...I hope you got some enjoyment out of it? If you were alive today you would be 85. Grandma's French Music Blared in the Morning!

by noreply@blogger.com (Mary)

it may sound strange to you if you are not from french south Louisiana...cajun country...but to me cajun music sounds like a lullaby sung by a very loving person. raised by my grandmother in a cypress house that my grandfather built, I lived the shabby chic life before it was popular. with very little between us and the great outdoors I flourished. grew strong. strong enough to weather the cards ... read more

Gabriel noticed...I tried not to

by noreply@blogger.com (Mary)
4 Aug 2007 at 7:37 am
It's over a month since Vic was plunged into black soil. Locked in and bolted down. Fearful that he would come to visit as if he belonged here, I woke during wee hours to mutter, "Vic, be dead." It seemed to work. Except for the once last week that Robin and I were watching TV and my BIG DOG got up to stare down something I couldn't see. Something between the floor, ceiling and walls. Something ... read more

Vic is dead - a wasted life

by noreply@blogger.com (Mary)
1 Jul 2007 at 11:54 am
That might be a hasty statement...whether he wasted his life or not. From my side of the fence he could have had more...and everything...instead he wanted new and not the old he had spent many years acquiring. But you know in the end he had to leave that too! He layed in his hospital bed alongside the king's bed with the drapes drawn and his room darkened. The sunlit garden with waterfall and ... read more

for Louise from her dying son

by noreply@blogger.com (Mary)
4 Apr 2007 at 10:12 am
I found the song I was looking for...House of the Rising Sun by The Animals. The story behind my search is that with Vic dying, suddenly everything "him" is haunting me. When he was young he was lead singer in a band that played dumps and dives - it was some of the most heartfelt music I have experienced since.Part of every show was a get-down-on-his-knees sing-his-heart-out rendition of this song ... read more
