Feeling Kind Of Pink and Tropical!

by noreply@blogger.com (The Third Street Gallery)
15 Jul 2008 at 7:52 am

Flamingos intrigue me. I have watched them in the wild in Florida, and in the Caribbean. The flamingo exhibit at the zoo has always been one of my favorite places to go to relax. The long-legged, graceful, pink birds to me are some of God's most beautiful creatures. Enjoy this small painting of this flamingo preening!

Warm, Sunflower Days!

by noreply@blogger.com (The Third Street Gallery)
13 Jul 2008 at 9:29 am

Summer has always been my favorite time of the year. As a kid I loved summer because, of course, there was no school. As a parent I love summer because I get to do all kinds of fun things with my kids and nephews. As a person I love the kicked back atmosphere that comes with summer. I love summer flowers in full bloom. Summer's palette is bright and sunny! Just like these sunflowers. Click ... read more

Life In The Studio

by noreply@blogger.com (The Third Street Gallery)
10 Jul 2008 at 12:08 pm

This is my studio. It is a great place to work, and where I feel most at home. When deciding where to have a studio I looked at many different options. I looked at space located outside of my home that was large and industrial. I looked at a studio in a building with other artists. I looked at converting our garage to a studio. In the end I decided to have my studio in my home and converted ... read more

How much should you pay in shipping fees?

by noreply@blogger.com (The Third Street Gallery)
9 Jul 2008 at 10:58 am
You find a piece of art online. You fall in love with it and decide to buy it. You ask the artist how much to ship or mail it to your location. The artist responds with the amount. "What!," you say, "That is a ridiculous price for shipping considering I only paid a small amount for it."

First let's take a look at what you bought. If you purchased a miniature or what is now called an ACEO look ... read more

Tonalism In Tuscany

by noreply@blogger.com (The Third Street Gallery)

This was painted last Spring as an attempt at creating a Tonalist landscape. I must admit that I am very happy with the results of this foray into Tonalism. I love the subtle colors in this palette.

This painted in oils on canvas applied to acid free fiber board. It is signed and dated on verso. Click HERE for more information on this painting or to purchase it. ... read more

Purple Mesa, Miniature Abstract Landscape

by noreply@blogger.com (The Third Street Gallery)
29 Jun 2008 at 5:24 pm

This tiny gem measures only 2.5"H X 3.5"W. It is oil on canvas, and evokes the southwest United States. One can just imagine a high mesa covered in purple sage, inhabited by the ancient Anasazi native Americans.

Abstract landscapes have great appeal for me. It is always a challenge to create a landscape with just a few well placed and thought out strokes of the brush. Even though this techniqu ... read more

It has been a long time since I've blogged. We have experienced a devastating family tragedy that forced me out of the studio to deal with a terrible loss.

At long last I am working again. So am I starting over? Or am I picking up where I left off?

Well, don't look for a daily painter identity in this blog. Yes, I paint everyday, but most professional artists do. It is just something I do, and ... read more

Intimacy in art

by noreply@blogger.com (The Third Street Gallery)
13 Sep 2007 at 6:00 pm

I have been working all summer in my studio painting new works for your enjoyment. In the process of painting miniature and small realistic works I became aware just how precious each completed painting had become to me. There is an unspoken intimacy in each work. As I painted each one I began to question just what makes an intimate work of art.

Is it subject matter? Is it size? Is it color? ... read more
