"still crazy after all these years"
Interests: Paris, Ireland, paper, books, hiking, art museums, journaling, cooking shows, old/ancient structures, rocks/boulders, National Geographic magazines, altered books, flea markets, open-air markets (good luck finding these in the US), old typewriters, fountain pens, and that's really quite enough
Sharing an early Sunday morning breakfast

Sharing an early Sunday morning breakfast at separate tables
two men sat at separate tables
in the front window of Proof Bakery
each faced the same direction
like passengers on a public bus
the grizzly man in the black and plaid flannel shirt
sat nearest the door.
before sipping his coffee, he dropped his head and prayed
a prayer as long as his salt and pepper beard
which nearly reached his russet leather
the alchemy of fiber
by susan3 Jan 2009 at 8:27 pm
the alchemy of fiber
start with a plant
or an animal
cotton or wool
add a vision
a need
or whimsy
stir with needles
and maybe thread
each gives a part of itself
to become something new
perhaps not iron
into gold
but to do all of this
in one's red flannel pajamas
seems nothing short of
magic
sock it to me

I bought this sock yarn at Knit & Caboodle. This is my first attempt at knitting socks and it first it felt like I was knitting with toothpicks compared to the fat boy needles I used to knit all those hats. Beth, modeling the hat that I made repeatedly this winter. The pa

We ate lunch at one of the many cafe type restaurants in St. Charles. This re

Devon and Seth (it's easy for kids to smile when they have a Nerf gun pointed in your direction :-)
I'm back home already but am delayed in posting photos of my trip "home" for the holidays. I bought my great-nephews a book entitled The Dangerous Book for Boys which demonstrates all sorts of cool "boy stuff" like how to make invisible ink, write in secret code and buil

My mom's beautiful mantle and wreath. My mom has more Christmas decorations than most department stores!
This little fellow guards the entry and seems to be everyone's favorite. We loving refer to him as Big Head. When first he was named this, my neice thought that my mother was referring to my dad :-)Families! ... read more
Christmas Eve

Aron waiting for the unwrapping festivities to begin...that's my "little" boy.
Aron and Sara in the hats I knit them for Christmas.
Sara and Mike...don't they make a great looking couple?
This is how we roll at our house on Christmas Eve.
It's definitely my fault that Tom and I can never get a decent photo together.
I may spoil all the family photo
