17 Aug 2007 at 10:15 amFor anyone who might be interested, I wanted to let you know that I wrote an article about how to create a still life. This is a guide for beginning artists; if you went to art school or if you are already experienced at drawing and painting still life art, then this article probably won't tell you anything you don't already know. But if you have never made a still life then please check it out!

Wedding Yesterday!
16 Jul 2006 at 2:09 pm
Aren't these flowers gorgeous? The bride and groom, our friends Steve & Denise, had the cutest game at their wedding reception. The prize was the centerpiece on the table. Art Gallery Representation
27 Mar 2006 at 1:52 pmI have some exciting news! It looks like I am going to be represented by a gallery very shortly. I have been in contact with the owner and will be sending her several pieces of my work; I just have to get them framed first. The gallery is in Nebraska, which should hopefully open up a whole new collector base for me. As of now, most of my US collectors are from the east coast and the southwest.

I just created this web banner this morning. I did it for The Sampler but I think it will generally come in handy in other places too. I am STILL working on my web site, http://www.amysolovay.com, and this will be a good addition to my link exchange page. Right now my site redirects to my ebay store but I am hoping to change that shortly. If you have a web site that relates to art, fashion, fabri ... read more

The first time I wrapped them all up like little holiday presents. Well, I liked that idea so much that I decided to giftwrap them again this time...I used baby shower paper instead of holiday paper ... read more
Inspiration...
15 Feb 2006 at 11:56 amI have been watching project runway (reruns I think) which is a guilty pleasure for me since I usually disdain the TV set as a total waste of time.
Anyway. An episode I saw recently was entitled "inspiration". All the designers were given digital cameras and let loose in NYC to run around taking pictures. Then they had to use one picture as inspiration for an outfit. One guy made a sensational dres ... read more
"Pivotal Moment"
13 Feb 2006 at 12:16 pm
When I was in college I took a ceramics classes with Joseph Monk, an artist who has greatly inspired me.
After class one day I was finished with my project and I found myself left with a pile of scrap clay. I was talking with some classmates and as I was talking I began to play with the clay scraps, forming them into a structure that at the time I would not dared to have called sculpture.
